Festival Fields 2014
The Pontarddulais Club’s annual
show on the Festival fields in Llanelli’s
Millennium Coastal Park had to be moved this year as the Eisteddfod
took priority with the council and the grounds had to be prepared for the
Maes with all the various tents and pavilions to accommodate.
So it was that those of us who went along ended up in the Pembrey
Country Park, with a field to ourselves, which in many ways was a better
area for the cars and the trade stands. The field was nice and flat and
surrounded by trees, cutting down the wind which is sometimes an issue
with the Festival Fields area being so near to the coast.
As always, the Bus Museum was giving rides
with their two open-top
buses. The only difference this time was that the busses were confined to
the park, instead of the local roads normally used. However it did give
you a chance to see just how much there is to choose from for visiting
families, with lots of picnic areas with tables, or for those seeking a bit of
peace and quiet, there were lots of sheltered spots to choose from. The
park looks a lot different when you are upstairs on a bus, what a vantage
Talking to the Chairman of the Pontarddulais club, it appears that this
may be the future setting for their show. It appears that the Council may
require money to reinstate the Festival Fields for the car show. In view of
the revenue from the Eisteddfod it seems a bit like the Council want the
penny and the bun. Where have I heard that one before???
