Established 1976

The last time that we had entered this event was about three years ago due
to one thing and another, so we thought we would try it again. The run is
organised by the Swansea MG Enthusiasts Club every year. This year
marked their 23rd run. The purpose of the run is to raise money for charity
and this year the money raised would be split between Kids Cancer
Swansea, Llys Nini Animal Shelter Swansea and Blood Bike Wales.
Starting at the Carreg Amman carpark in Ammanford, the cars
unsurprisingly headed off towards Gwaun-Cae-Gerwen and up and over
the Black Mountain road. Unfortunately the weather was misty and the
mountain was covered in low cloud, so the beautiful views were hidden
from the entrants but we did have the roof down. We did however, come
across two idiots on bicycles pedalling over the top where the visibility
was poorest without any lights or Hi-Viz clothing. We only just saw them
coming the other way; I trust the car a short distance behind them also
spotted them in time. Idiots!
The route took us all to Llandrindod Wells for a lunch halt at the lakeside
café. On our way we had passed Powys’ oldest pub, The Red Lion near
Llanfan Fawr. Suitably refreshed at the café, we headed off on the return
leg of the journey and the finish at Dan-yr-Ogof show caves. A good day
out in the car with some really nice views along the way

Thank you to the organisers for a good route and good luck with raising
lots of money for your charities.
